I bet you’ve all forgotten the “Volunteers Please” posting I put on here a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately not everyone did.
Half a dozen of our Members turned up at the Club yesterday afternoon to offer a taste of bowling to those taking part in the B&NES Carer’s Day.
After a slow start, in fact four of us had a relaxing roll up for the first hour, our guests started to join us. Through to 6.30pm we had a steady flow of young people experiencing the fascination of delivering biased woods for the first time.
I think I can rightly claim we all had a good time, Members and guests alike. Even more pleasing was watching the raw talent displayed by one or two of our guests, there were some naturals amongst them.
On behalf of the Club I would like to congratulate B&NES on this initiative, thank our volunteers for turning up and most of all thank our guests for giving us so much pleasure. I hope they will all come again.
By the way, those of us who were helping yesterday would love to see the photos our guests were taking. Obviously there is no question of me publishing any of them without the express permission of those in the pictures and in the case of minors, the express written permission of their parents or guardians.
