Directions and Parking

There is limited “on road” parking in central Keynsham, or indeed near the Club. There are however various “pay & display” car parks at very reasonable rates (currently just 80p for up to 4 hours) at The Park, Fox and Hounds Lane and Bath Hill. All are within a short walk of the Club.

From The Park continue on foot to the end of the lane, into Keynsham Memorial Park and the Club is on the right about a hundred yards ahead, with the entrance facing the tennis courts.

From the Fox and Hounds or Bath Hill car parks walk up the hill toward the town centre and High Street. The entrance to the Memorial Park is through the large commemorative gates. Walking through the park, uphill all the way, keep the children’s play area on your left to find the Club in the far left hand corner of the park. Follow our perimeter round to the right to find our entrance, facing the tennis courts. Parking at the Fox and Hounds will entail some uphill walking to reach the Club and is not recommended for everyone. Drivers can drop off passengers in Back Lane, to enable them to walk on the flat to the end of the cul-de-sac and along the alley to the right into the Memorial Park.

Short stay parking (just 40p for 2 hours) is also available on Ashton Way. From Ashton Way walk down Charlton Road to the High Street. Turn right into the High Street and immediately cross at the bollards. Turning right after crossing the road you will find an alley to the left within 40 yards (opposite Boots the chemists) with a finger post signed for the Memorial Park. Follow the alley into the park and the Club is straight ahead. Follow our perimeter to the left for our entrance.

PARKING NEWS FOR 2012 - AND THERE'S NO IMPROVEMENT.

B&NES has yet to restore the balance of short and long term parking following the removal of the parking behind the British Legion off Charlton Road and off St Johns Court. This leaves us very short of the four hour parking needed for a match.

The "short term" innovation laying a temporary surface in the "Old Nursery" depot to provide free parking, remains in operation. This can be accessed by driving through the Pay & Display car park off The Park. These spaces are now grabbed early in the morning by rail commuters and people working in Keynsham, so there are rarely any left in the afternoon.

Keynsham Bowling Club is still recommending Members and visitors unable to find a space in the "Old Nursery" or a long stay Pay & Display space, use the free municipal car park on the A4175, Keynsham Road, opposite Avon Mill Lane. Although there is a steady uphill climb past the station, the distance to the club is only 300 yards or so. Drivers with passengers might like to drop them off, with all bags, at either the car park off The Park or The Pioneer public house before parking.

At present B&NES appears to be quite happy with its survey of parking needs in Keynsham, even though those conducting the survey took no account of the needs of any of the groups using the Memorial Park! The council also seems quite happy for their free and long stay parking to be taken up by rail commuters every week day, whilst the rather more expensive station car park has spaces to spare. Strange that the needs of commuters from Keynsham and the surrounding area are put before those of people wishing to work, shop or play in Keynsham. Hardly conducive to the regeneration of the town.
